catskill hikingCatskill Scenic Trail

Please enjoy the Catskill Scenic Trail in safety. At several locations, notably the trailheads in Bloomville and Grand Gorge, the trail intersects with busy New York State highways. It is recommended you do not attempt to cross NYS Route 23 at Grand Gorge.

We have only three rules for the Trail. First, there are no trash receptacles on the Trail. If you carry it on - please carry it off! Second, no ATV's (all-terrain vehicles) or other unauthorized motor vehicles are allowed on the Catskill Scenic Trail. Third, please respect our neighbors. At various locations along the Trail you will be passing through quiet villages. Please allow our neighbors to enjoy their privacy. Thank you for your consideration.

A mountain bike will make for a much more enjoyable ride. These bikes have fat tires and multiple gears making traveling over the cinder and dirt surgace much easier.

The villages of Bloomville, South Kortright, Hobart, Stamford and Grand Gorge offer services ranging from convenience stores to full service restaurants. Most of these are located on the main streets within a half mile of the Trail.

Bed & Breakfasts and other lodging facilities are located close to the Trail. Please call the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce at 1-800-642-4443 for a free travel guide to help you plan and enjoy your trip. Visit the chamber's website for lodging information.

Please be aware that public telephones are scarce and cellular phone service may be limited.
